A common problem we face in designing Shadow Boards is converting CAD data quickly and easily to NC Code for milling. 3D files have angles and tappers that are not included in the manufacturing of Shadow Boards. While we can convert 3D files to DXF and work from there to generate a file for milling the most effective method today is to work from an .stl file.
Our Slicer Software works much the same as the software used in 3D printing. OSAAP works with milling machines that need an NC Code Post of a path only. The Slicer we developed exports all the X, Y, and depth information from the .stl file while removing angles and tappers the milling machine does not need.
