To change from the default depth go to drop-down #4 (Depth Management / 3D Viewer) in the tool bar drop-downs.
Default Depths
The reason our solution is "2.5 D", as we coin it, is because we set a default depth for each item as follows:
- Tools: 15mm default depth
- Finger Cuts: default depth dependent on the depth of the board
- for 30mm foam boards the default depth will be 25mm
- for 60mm foam boards the default depth will be 55mm
- for 90mm foam boards the default depth will be 85mm
Setting Custom Depths
To change from the default depth go to drop-down #4 (Depth Management / 3D Viewer) in the tool bar drop-downs.
- Select the tool (or multiple tools) for which you would like to change the depth.
- Under the "Cutting Depth for Tool edit" within drop-down #4, enter your desired custom depth into the text box.
- Click the "Set Depth" button
Auto Depth
The auto depth feature is specifically built for cylindrical tools, we use it mostly for sockets. The auto depth feature takes the width of the tool and then uses it to calculate the depth.
The value text box determines if the tool will be flush with the foam, sit below, or sit above it.
- If you keep the value at 0 the tool will be flush with the foam
- If you change the value to a negative number, for example -1mm, the tool will sit 1mm below the foam
- If you change the value to a positive number, for example 1mm, the tool will sit 1mm above the foam
Multi-Depth
The last type of depth customization we offer is multi-depth.
This is useful for tools such as screwdrivers, who have two different width variations.
- To create a custom depth on a tool you simply select the part of the tool that has the variation (you can do this by clicking and dragging with your right mouse button) and then pressing the shortcut key "x" or the "split" icon under editing tools.
- This action will separate the selected portion of the tool from the rest of the tool.
- Once that section of the tool is separated you can give it a different depth.
- To combine the tool together once again after the custom depth you can simply click both portions of the tool and use the short cut key "p" for paste.
Note:
You can select multiple tools at a time to change the depth of them all at once.
